east village residence

Soft intervention was all that was needed in this architecturally unique, light and open plan space. Having worked with these clients on a rental home in 2017, and having been involved in viewing other potential properties in the search for a home of their own, we knew, this property had that ‘this is the one’ feeling from the start.
Wood, brick and sisal were abundant, making for a warm and comfortable base, ideal for incorporating many of the furniture pieces we had previously sourced for the other property. Our clients loved the ‘uncluttered, Zen-like’ vibe of the central living room space – pared back colours, minimalism, clean lines and organic materials. Our role was to make it all come together. To this end we added layers in the form of rugs, soft linen curtains and beautiful lighting. The carefully chosen ceramic pieces and art are the icing on the proverbial cake.
The finished scheme is a delicate balance between warm Japanese-style minimalism and a comfortable family home in which easy living is a priority. In many ways, this project is an exercise in restraint and the result embodies the ‘less is more’ philosophy which resonates with our clients’ lifestyle.
